Basketball Recap: Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas duked it out withBoulder City on Friday. The Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas Falcons took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boulder City Eagles. The contest was a 20-20 toss-up at halftime, but the Falcons couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas lost, don't look at Bella Robinson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 36 points and 14 rebounds. Robinson's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Wingate, who posted six points and six boards.

Boulder City found their leader in sophomore Makenzie Martorano, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Martorano is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Sophia Muelrath was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Boulder City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.

Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas will venture away from home to face off against Pahrump Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas is facing Pahrump Valley at the right time seeing as Pahrump Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Boulder City, they will be playing at home against Doral Academy Red Rock at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Boulder City's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Doral Academy Red Rock has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
