3A SPSL recap Oct. 16, 2012
Peninsula extended the longest winning streak in 3A SPSL this week by beating Decatur, 58-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Bonney Lake was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in the league. The Panthers defeated Enumclaw 28-10 earlier in the week.
Auburn Mountainview's dynamic duo of Domenic Rockey and Kekoa Nahaku proved tough for Lakes to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Rockey threw for 190 yards and Nahaku had 82 yards receiving. Joey Cassano helped Auburn Mountainview's passing attack out by catching six balls for 75 yards.
Kevin Thompson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 154 yards as the Lancers lost to the Lancers. Dominic Milton also contributed to the rushing game with 62 yards on the ground.
Devin Bryant made the biggest impact on defense this week as Auburn Mountainview fell to Lakes. The 5-foot-9 senior recorded one fumble.
Jared Gervais' team's Rockey and Nahaku have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 3A SPSL in both passing and receiving yards. Rockey has thrown for 1493 yards this season, while Nahaku, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 42 catches for 564 yards. Thompson from Dave Miller's team leads the league in rushing with 496 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Lancers take on Bonney Lake. Lakes is currently in second, while Jason Silbaugh's team is in third.
Peninsula took down the Golden Gators 58-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
