The University City Centurions won the last time they faced the Lincoln Hornets, and things went their way on Friday too. University City walked away with a 62-53 win over Lincoln. Given University City's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Lincoln is ranked 460th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dylan Griffin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. He hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Gavani, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
University City's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Lincoln, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.
University City will head out on the road to face off against Madison at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Madison is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Lincoln won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Rancho Christian on January 20th. Rancho Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
