The Mesa Verde Mavericks lost against the Rio Linda Knights back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mesa Verde fell 59-50 to Rio Linda. Mesa Verde has not had much luck with Rio Linda recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Mesa Verde still got an impressive performance from Mathew Garcia, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garcia has scored all season. Ryan Jorgensen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Rio Linda was led to victory by Kevin Smith and Rodney Shead. Smith scored ten points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Shead scored 15 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Rhamad Williams, who scored two points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.
Mesa Verde's defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-22. As for Rio Linda, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-16 record this season.
Mesa Verde does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rio Linda, they will head out on the road to square off against Dixon at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rio Linda is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season.
