Evansville Memorial scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Evansville Harrison 79-19 at home. Evansville Memorial has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 22 points or more this season.
Evansville Memorial got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophie Johnson out in front who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Avery Kelley was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though Evansville Reitz has not done well against Boonville recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Evansville Reitz walked away with a 58-48 win over Boonville. Given Evansville Reitz's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Boonville is ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kaelyse Mitchell was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Hape, who scored 15 points.
Evansville Memorial pushed their record up to 20-3 with that victory, which was their 19th straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.9 points per game. As for Evansville Reitz, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which somehow isn't as good as their 14-4 record this season.
Evansville Memorial was able to grind out a solid victory over Evansville Reitz in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 55-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Evansville Memorial since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
