It was a good run, but The Melba Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to Nampa Christian on the road by a decisive 36-22 margin. Melba was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Nampa Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Nampa Christian was led to victory by Matthew Nevarez and Aiden Thompson. Nevarez rushed for 136 yards on only 11 carries, while Thompson threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Melba's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Nampa Christian, their win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2.
Melba will take on Marsing at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Marsing is ranked 60th, while Melba is ranked 46th). Nampa Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
