Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Valleys). They put the hurt on the Hug Hawks with a sharp 22-4 win on Wednesday. Considering the Panthers have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Karli Klein made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Klein was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Caylee Soap was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Shia Sarchett, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
North Valleys always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .812. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .600 that Hug posted.
North Valleys' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Hug, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
