Irmo is 0-9 against White Knoll since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets will host the Timberwolves at 6:00 p.m. Irmo has given up an average of 14.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Irmo lost 20-4 to River Bluff on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Yellow Jackets have lost by exactly 16 runs.
Irmo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skyler Corley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run. That hit was Corley's first of the season. Another was Malia Lewis, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask White Knoll). They put the hurt on Dutch Fork with a sharp 17-2 win on Friday. With that victory, the Timberwolves brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
EG Birchmore made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Birchmore was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reginae Porterfield, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Melinda Veler, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
White Knoll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Irmo's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for White Knoll, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Irmo suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to White Knoll when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
