Basketball Game Preview: Aynor Blue Jackets vs. Georgetown Bulldogs

Aynor hasn't had much luck against Georgetown recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Aynor Blue Jackets will challenge the Georgetown Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Aynor has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, Aynor ended up a good deal behind Waccamaw and lost 71-52. While losing is never fun, the Blue Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Warriors are ranked 112th).

Aynor's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Robinson Mendez, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds, and Lucas Kamp, who went 7 of 10 en route to 17 points. The dominant performance gave Mendez a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jamarion Mitchell, who posted two points and seven assists.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Georgetown against Cheraw on Monday as the team secured an 80-41 win.

Aynor better keep an eye on Amos Jones. He was instrumental in Georgetown's win, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jari Ford, who earned 19 points.

Georgetown has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Aynor, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Aynor came up short against Georgetown when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 61-51. Thankfully for Aynor, Ty Stanley (who scored 20 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
