Even though the Bryan Bears scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, the Omaha Central Eagles still came out on top. Omaha Central walked away with a 62-55 victory over Bryan. The victory was all the more spectacular given Omaha Central's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Bryan is ranked ninth).
Daleron Thomas was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Ke'Von Newsome was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Bryan's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of A'mare Bynum, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three blocks, and Rylan Rodriguez who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Rodriguez pulled down eight or more rebounds.
The victory was the third in a row for Omaha Central, bringing their record for this year to 4-1. As for Bryan, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-1.
Omaha Central will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Lincoln at 1:30 p.m. on December 16th. One thing working in Lincoln's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Bryan, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Lincoln Southeast at 2:15 p.m. on December 16th. Hopefully Lincoln Southeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
