5A Region IV District 25 recap October 1, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 5A Region IV District 25 this week, Smithson Valley beat King 61-18. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Rangers.
New Braunfels scaled the state rankings by moving to 517 from 620 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Unicorns were able to move up by defeating East Central 28-3.
San Marcos's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. TUCKER SMITH threw for 122 yards and ZACH STERLING had 37 yards receiving. On the ground SMITH chipped in 116 yards. PETER RAMIREZ helped San Marcos' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
STERLING was the best receiver in the league this week as the Rattlers lost to Steele. STERLING tallied 3 receptions for 37 yards. RAMIREZ helped San Marcos' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
San Marcos' offense cannot be tamed this season and the Rattlers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. SMITH has thrown for 920 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while STERLING has 28 catches for 399 yards. SMITH also leads the league in rushing with 307 yards.
San Marcos lost to the Knights 51-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. SMITH ran for 116 yards in the loss.
