The Hillcrest Rams will square off against the Woodmont Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
Fountain Inn hit Hillcrest with a four-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams fell 11-6 to the Fury.
Hillcrest saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skyla Benton, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Woodmont waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles a 12-0 shutout. Give the Wildcats' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Lauren Hume and Jamie Lee Landrum were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Hume pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Landrum pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Hume posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. At bat, Hume went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Landrum went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Addison Turner was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Childress, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Woodmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Woodmont's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Hillcrest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season.
