After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Johns, the Morenci Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They walked away with a 37-28 victory over Mogollon. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Morenci also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2016.
Leading Morenci to victory were Tiara Jones and Rozlyn Funari. Jones dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Funari scored 9 points along with 11 rebounds and 4 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least 25% of Morenci's points. Another player making a difference was Adriana Carbajal, who scored 7 points.
The victory got Morenci back to even at 3-3. As for Mogollon, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-1.
Morenci is on the road again on Friday and play against Alchesay at 9:00 a.m. on December 8th. Alchesay is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Mogollon, they will face off against St. Johns at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully St. Johns focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 38 on Thursday.
