With a playoff game on the line, the Martin Warriors rose to the challenge on Thursday. They put the hurt on Berkner with a sharp 42-16 win. The win was nothing new for Martin as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Martin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daylon Cobb, who rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Brooks Brigance was another key contributor, rushing for 111 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Martin has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 8-3 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Grand Prairie and 1-9 Temple (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.6% over those games). As for Berkner, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Martin will take on Allen at TBD on Friday. Allen presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Martin in Texas (Allen is ranked 26th, while Martin is ranked 148th). Berkner does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
