The Big Sandy Wildcats will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Jefferson Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Big Sandy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Big Sandy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 29 points or more this season. They breezed by Ore City at home to the tune of 96-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Big Sandy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kayden Smith led the charge by going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 3 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Big Sandy's points. Another player making a difference was Ka'myrie Fountain, who scored 18 points along with six steals and five assists.
Meanwhile, Jefferson was able to grind out a solid victory over Elysian Fields on Tuesday, taking the game 47-40.
Big Sandy's record now sits at 7-8. Jefferson's record is now 12-4.
