Hendrickson (Pflugerville, Texas) extended its winning streak to five games with a 20-10 victory over
Round Rock Westwood (Austin, Texas) on Saturday.
The Warriors pulled ahead on a touchdown run by
Ty Marshall, and subsequently went into halftime leading 10-7. The Hawks took the lead for good with a
Xavier Conley touchdown run in the third quarter.
The result came as a big surprise as Round Rock Westwood came in ranked No. 130 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Texas, while Hendrickson was ranked No. 226.
Conley stood out for HHS in the win. The junior quarterback ran for one touchdown.
Marshall made a difference for RRW. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
The Austin school's lone touchdown came on a 6-yard run by Marshall in the second quarter.
The Pflugerville school came in allowing an average of 25.0 points per game this season. The defense really stepped up, holding the Warriors well below their season average of 26.3 points scored per game.
The loss comes after Round Rock Westwood defeated McNeil 34-7 last week. The loss snapped Round Rock Westwood's 2-game winning streak.
In a 5A Region II District 16 game next week Round Rock Westwood (4-3) takes on Cedar Ridge, and Hendrickson (5-2) will go up against Pflugerville also in a 5A Region II District 16 game.
