The Stanton Mustangs fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Twin River Titans on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Stanton came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Twin River is ranked 233rd).
Stanton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Skyler Siebrandt, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Siebrandt has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times she's played. Kelby Pohlman was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Stanton and nudges their season record down to 8-7. As for Twin River, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.
Stanton will square off against Wisner-Pilger at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Twin River, they will head out on the road to face off against Clarkson/Leigh at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clarkson/Leigh will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
