Central Bucks West is a perfect 4-0 against Archbishop Wood since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Bucks will head out to take on the Vikings at 3:45 p.m. Central Bucks West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Central Bucks West was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Conwell-Egan Catholic 5-4.
Ana Glemser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Katherine James was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Sammy Hooven was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Wood made easy work of St. Hubert Catholic for Girls on Tuesday and carried off a 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won four matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Graciene Gale, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Maya McGrory also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Archbishop Wood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.
Central Bucks West is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Wood, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-4.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Central Bucks West hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Archbishop Wood struggles in that department as they've averaged .330. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central Bucks West skirted past Archbishop Wood 8-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bucks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
