The Beaver Bobcats will head out to challenge the Moon Area Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Beaver is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Beaver made easy work of Western Beaver and carried off a 13-6 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bobcats.
Jaedyn Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sami Springman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridget Mayo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Beaver kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.
Hopewell hit Moon Area with a four-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers lost 10-2 to the Vikings.
Katie DeMarco put in work no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. DeMarco was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
DeMarco wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Ray, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Beaver's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Moon Area, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Moon Area's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Beaver has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. It's a different story for Moon Area, though, as they've only averaged .350. Will they be able to contain Beaver's hitters?
