Gooding hasn't had much luck against Wendell recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Senators will take on the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Gooding will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Gooding is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 24-4 margin over Glenns Ferry on Monday. The Senators have beaten the Pilots the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pilots has come to flipping the script.
Tracen Bay made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Gooding got a massive performance out of Josh Hagen, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Evan Mendoza was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Gooding always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .784. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Wendell came out on top against American Falls on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Trojans blew past the Beavers 13-6. Considering the Trojans have won six games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Gooding, Wendell also got a great game from a two-way player: Deegan Prince. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Prince a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Beckett Yon was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zayden Rogers, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Gooding's record now sits at 2-5. As for Wendell, their record is now 7-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gooding has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wendell struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Gooding came out on top in a nail-biter against Wendell when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 7-5. Do the Senators have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
