If the Hopewell Titans were feeling good off their 76-47 takedown of the Hough Huskies on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hopewell took a 83-79 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lexington. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (76), Hopewell still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Hopewell lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Quay Watson. Despite the final result, he scored 35 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Watson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Derrick Eley was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five assists.
Hopewell dropped their record down to 12-4 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Lexington, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.
Hopewell will be playing in front of their home fans against Harding University at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lexington, they will head out on the road to challenge Chapin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chapin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Lexington is ranked second).
