The Riverside-Durham Pirates and the East Wake Warriors will round out the year against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Riverside-Durham is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
Riverside-Durham's game on Monday was all tied up 26-26 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 56-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Green Level. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Riverside-Durham has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Riverside-Durham saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaden Butler, who scored four points along with nine steals and nine blocks, was perhaps the best of all. That's the first time this season that Butler posted two or more blocks. Daniel Kelleh was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, East Wake pushed their score all the way to 57 last Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Knightdale at home by a decisive 71-57 margin. East Wake has struggled against Knightdale recently, as their match last Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The losing side was boosted by Donovan Midget, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Nikel Rogers, who scored ten points.
Riverside-Durham's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3. As for East Wake, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
