On Thursday, Point Loma beat La Jolla 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Pointers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won four in a row.
Point Loma had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-13.

Point Loma's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Olivia Karvelis, who had 13 digs and eight assists, and Reece Thomas, who had eight digs and two aces. Karvelis has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 11 times she's played.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for University City, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mission Bay on Thursday, sneaking past 3-2.
University City had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-12.
The victory got University City back to even at 17-17. As for Point Loma, their win bumped their record up to 15-11.
