The Wagner Red Raiders came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past O'Neill 66-44. Wagner has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Despite the loss, O'Neill saw an underclassman step up: Hannah Hilker scored 14 points. Olivia Young was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Wagner pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for O'Neill, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wagner will face off against Centerville at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Centerville will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for O'Neill, they will head out on the road to challenge Guardian Angels Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Guardian Angels Central Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than O'Neill in Nebraska (Guardian Angels Central Catholic is ranked 20th, while O'Neill is ranked 116th).
