On Monday, New Life Christian was out to avenge their 41-30 defeat to Mount Airy Christian Academy from their previous meeting last December, but they had no such luck. New Life Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-45 to Mount Airy.
The top scorer for Mount Airy was junior Gianna Hegler (21 points).
New Life Christian's overall record fell to 5-8. The victory bumped Mount Airy's record up to 17-8.
New Life Christian will take on Heritage Academy next week. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps rankings project a close game. Mount Airy is staying on the road on Friday to face off against Frederick Christian Academy. Like Mount Airy, Frederick is also coming into the contest bolstered by a recent win.
