Bishop McLaughlin Catholic took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 22-12 margin over Hernando Christian Academy. Considering the Hurricanes have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Cleopatra Cabrera was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off only two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Catherine Bell was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Keegan Castelli was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.
Wildwood not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 24-12). They blew past Eastside 24-13.
Alex Barron was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikaela Bey, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Wildwood's record now sits at 4-15. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, their victory ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-9.
Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .520. However, it's not like Wildwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .583. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
