IV Section II recap Sept. 26, 2012
David Gesicki and Matt Haggerty provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Maricopa. The connection went for 70 yards, the longest such play in IV Section II this season.
Coolidge extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Florence, 49-13. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Seton Catholic's dynamic duo of Gesicki and Haggerty proved tough for the Rams to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gesicki threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns and Haggerty had 175 yards receiving. Eric Probst helped Seton Catholic's passing attack out by catching four balls for 47 yards.
Daniel Triplett was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 90 yards on 10 carries as Coronado bested Maricopa. Teammate Felix Morris added to the ground attack by rushing for 62 yards.
Seton Catholic's Ryan Bresnahan and Haggerty have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading IV Section II in both passing and receiving yards. Bresnahan has thrown for 597 yards this season, while Haggerty, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 23 catches for 410 yards. Nick Brown from the Gophers leads the league in rushing with 616 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Rex Bowser's team takes on Combs. The Sentinels' offense has scored 227 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Coyotes have allowed only 191 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Seton Catholic takes on Combs. As it stands, the Sentinels are in second, while Marques Reischl's team is in 10th.
Safford took down San Carlos 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
