The Corinth Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Hernando Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Corinth took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Alcorn Central get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won seven in a row.

Alcorn Central's batters probably weren't too happy with Jack Lester, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (he gave up four walks). Lester also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Corinth is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise.
At the plate, Corinth let Jacob Pierce and Parker Gray run wild. Pierce went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Gray got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those two stolen bases gave Pierce a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reed Moss, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Hernando challenged DeSoto Central on Friday. The Tigers walked away with a 10-6 win over the Jaguars.
Axton Westmoreland made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Bagley, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Asher Lawson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs.
Hernando now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Corinth, their record is now 10-8.
Corinth suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to Hernando when the teams last played back in February. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
