The Lamar Texans will square off against the Cesar E. Chavez Lobos at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cesar E. Chavez took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lamar, who comes in off a win.

Leila Ayarzagoitia was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Natalie Giannone was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Hernandez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Lamar hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Cesar E. Chavez was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Heights. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lobos have suffered since March 27, 2024.
Ava Castillo spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Ahmani Hawkins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Cesar E. Chavez's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Lamar, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Cesar E. Chavez's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lamar hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Cesar E. Chavez, though, as they've only averaged .225. Will they be able to contain Lamar's hitters?
