Mayfield and Marshall County are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Mayfield Cardinals will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Marshall County Marshals at 7:30 p.m. Mayfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Marshall County is ranked 38th).
Last Thursday, Mayfield lost to Carlisle County at home by a decisive 69-51 margin. Mayfield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Marshall County didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Graves County on Friday, but they still walked away with a 56-52 win.
Mayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Marshall County, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Mayfield was able to grind out a solid win over Marshall County in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 70-58. Will Mayfield repeat their success, or does Marshall County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
