The Lancaster Catholic Crusaders will challenge the Northern Lebanon Vikings at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lancaster Catholic 3.9, Northern Lebanon 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Lancaster Catholic's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Lancaster Mennonite 7-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.
Zach Zuber was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lancaster Catholic is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise. Zuber was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ty George was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Lancaster Catholic's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Seamus Conner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Lancaster Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Northern Lebanon unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Blue Mountain. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.
Northern Lebanon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Via, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Via has hit this season.
Lancaster Catholic's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Northern Lebanon, their loss dropped their record down to 14-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lancaster Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northern Lebanon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lancaster Catholic couldn't quite get it done against Northern Lebanon in their previous matchup on April 9th as they fell 7-2. Will the Crusaders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
