It was a good run, but the Steward Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were dealt a 90-45 loss at the hands of John Marshall. While losing is never fun, Steward can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while John Marshall is ranked fifth).
Steward's loss came despite strong showings from LJ Vaughan and Ben Vaughn. Vaughan scored 12 points, while Vaughn scored 5 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead John Marshall to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aiden Argabright, who scored 18 points along with 4 steals. The matchup was Argabright's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Latrell Allmond was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Steward's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for John Marshall, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Steward is on the road again on Friday and play against Woodberry Forest at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. As for John Marshall, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Sidwell Friends at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Sidwell Friends focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
