After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, Chariton finally came back down to earth on Monday. They fell just short of the Cardinal Comets by a score of 3-1. The Chargers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Chariton's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Cardinal, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chariton will head out to take on Creston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cardinal, they will venture away from home to square off against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.89 runs per game on average), something the Comets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
