Softball Recap: Dalhart Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Dalhart lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tulia, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. Dalhart blew past Tulia 14-8 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Sydni Hyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Hyer was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Townsend and Lylianah Flores did most of the damage at the plate: Townsend scored four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Flores scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Flores has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Audra Jobe, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Dalhart always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Dalhart's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-8-1. As for Tulia, they dropped their record down to 1-14 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Dalhart is set to square off against their familiar foe Childress at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Tulia will take on rival River Road at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
