The Rigby Trojans will venture away from home to take on the Highland Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Rigby is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.7 runs per game this season.
Rigby took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Thunder Ridge, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans skirted past the Titans 9-8.
The team relied heavily on Paige Ringel, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted over her last 11 contests. Another player making a difference was Sam Bishop, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Rigby hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thunder Ridge struck out six times.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Highland's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 17-11 to Thunder Ridge. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Rams have suffered against the Titans since April 18, 2025.
Cedar Lacey made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Brystol Burrop, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one double.
Highland's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 8-1-1 and their overall record down to 16-5-1. As for Rigby, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rigby hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .427. However, it's not like Highland struggles in that department as they've averaged .434. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rigby came up short against Highland when the teams last played last Tuesday, falling 11-8. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
