7A District 10 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Venice moved up to 75 from 123 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 7A District 10. The Indians were able to make the jump by beating North Port 41-14.
Manatee extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Cypress Bay, 42-20. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Manatee's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hurricanes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cord Sandberg has thrown for 1176 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Marquel Hines has 19 catches for 342 yards. Trevon Walters leads the league in rushing with 469 yards.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Manatee takes on Venice. Joe Kinnan's team has allowed 80 points this season, while John Peacock's team has given up 104. The Hurricanes allowed 20 points last week as they topped the Lightning.
