Nogales is on a three-game streak of home losses, Desert View an eight-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Nogales Apaches will take on the Desert View Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
On Thursday, Nogales came up short against Salpointe Catholic and fell 61-52. While losing is never fun, Nogales can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Salpointe Catholic is ranked 46th).
Desert View suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2023 on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Nogales at home and fell 66-35. Desert View has not had much luck with Nogales recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gilbert Herran, who scored five points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Felix, who scored a point along with ten rebounds.
Nogales has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Desert View, their loss dropped their record down to 1-20.
Everything came up roses for Nogales against Desert View in their previous matchup on Wednesday as the team secured a 66-35 win. Will Nogales repeat their success, or does Desert View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
