The Anderson Raptors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Milford Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Anderson has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 8.
Anderson fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Tigers on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Tigers 38-33. Anderson has struggled against the Tigers recently, as their contest on Monday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Milford has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell just short of Turpin by a score of 45-43. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Milford came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Spartans are ranked 257th).
Milford's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Violet Shuluga, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds, and Kelsey McKenney who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Chadwell, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Milford struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are 11-6 when they can't control their own glass like that.
Anderson dropped their record down to 2-18 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Milford, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7.
Anderson was dealt a bruising 62-29 loss at the hands of the Eagles in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Shuluga, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 steals. Now that Anderson knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
