Colonial Beach has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Lancaster Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colonial Beach will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 387th, while Lancaster is ranked 56th).
Colonial Beach suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. Their rough 67-46 defeat to Northumberland might stick with them for a while. Colonial Beach has struggled against Northumberland recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Lancaster unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 60-47 to Peninsula Catholic.
Lancaster's defeat came about despite a quality game from Troy Henderson, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Henderson is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kevontrez Bunns, who scored seven points.
Colonial Beach has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Lancaster, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
Colonial Beach took a serious blow against Lancaster when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 93-31. Can Colonial Beach avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
