Basketball Recap: Staples Has No Trouble Against Darien

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Stamford, Staples was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Darien Blue Wave 58-33. The Wreckers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season.

Freya Harvey was nothing short of spectacular: she posted eight points and eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Rein, who earned nine points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Staples was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Staples has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Darien, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Staples will challenge Greenwich at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Darien has already played their next contest (against Trumbull), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
