The Frankton Eagles will face off against the Northfield Norsemen at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Frankton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Frankton took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Mississinewa, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Indians 8-7.
Oliver Baker made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Frankton is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Baker was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Frankton let Mason Jones and Cal Osborne run wild. Jones went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Osborne went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Osborne is becoming a predictor of Frankton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Finn Cress, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, it was a classic North v. South duel when Northfield took on Southwood on Wednesday. The Norsemen never let the Knights get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Norsemen in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.
Caleb Dubois made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Ty Leming was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Breckin Sanders was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Northfield's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Frankton, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
Frankton came out on top in a nail-biter against Northfield when the teams last played back in May of 2017, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Norsemen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
