Itawamba Agricultural extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 1 this week by beating Shannon, 41-6. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Itawamba Agricultural suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after besting the Red Raiders. The Indians had been ranked 24th, but fell to 28 following the defeat.
Amory's dynamic duo of Jon David Poss and Devin McIntosh proved tough for Corinth to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Poss threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns and McIntosh had 121 yards receiving. Dario Robinson helped Amory's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 64 yards.
Ashton Shumpert was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 182 yards as Itawamba Agricultural beat the Warriors. Teammate Charles Moore added to the ground attack by rushing for 89 yards.
Amory's Poss and McIntosh have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Poss has thrown for 1704 yards this season, while McIntosh, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 27 catches for 663 yards. The Indians' Moore leads the league in rushing yards with 900.
Moore of the Itawamba Agricultural is only 100 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in 4A Region 1 this week will be when the Warriors take on the Indians. Pontotoc is in fourth place, while Itawamba Agricultural is in first place.
