Mariner sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Cape Coral on Monday. The win was just what Mariner needed coming off of a 12-2 defeat in their prior matchup.
Caleb Kiraly looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit over four innings pitched. Brady Jock relieved him and did a solid job, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.
On the hitting side, Mariner's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sam Guth, who went 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
The win got Out-of-Door Academy back to even at 6-6. As for Mariner, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season.
