The Westlake Charter Explorers suffered their biggest loss since December 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 72-52 defeat at the hands of Elite. While losing is never fun, Westlake Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1034th, while Elite is ranked 382nd).
Despite the loss, Westlake Charter had strong showings from Brian Ash, who scored 27 points along with two blocks, and Quinones Fleeton, who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ash has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Quilatan, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Westlake Charter bumped their record down to 6-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Elite, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.
Westlake Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against John Adams Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. John Adams Academy is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Elite, they will head out on the road to take on Fortune Early College at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fortune Early College will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
