Jac-Cen-Del is 0-10 against Rising Sun since May of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Shiners at 5:00 p.m. Jac-Cen-Del has given up an average of 13.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Jac-Cen-Del lost 15-5 to Switzerland County on Monday.
Jac-Cen-Del saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlynn Shadday, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another was Paige Pindell, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Rising Sun never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on South Ripley with a sharp 12-0 win. The Shiners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Elaina Titkemeyer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lily Courtney was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Avery Elliott was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Rising Sun always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Ripley only posted an OBP of .067.
Rising Sun pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Jac-Cen-Del, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jac-Cen-Del has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rising Sun struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jac-Cen-Del might still be hurting after the 18-0 defeat they got from Rising Sun when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
