Basketball Recap: Lakewood Beats Gibbs for Their Seventh Straight Win

Lakewood waltzed into their game on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They claimed a resounding 58-23 win over the Gibbs Gladiators. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 27 points or more this season.

Lakewood was led to victory by Alahni Lovett and Sumayah McIntosh. Lovett posted 16 points and seven steals, while McIntosh went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points and seven steals. That's the most steals Lovett has posted since back in January of 2024. Mikayla Paschal was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Lakewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Gibbs, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Lakewood won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cardinal Mooney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Cardinal Mooney has won five straight at home, while Lakewood won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Gibbs, they will challenge Hollins at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
