Softball Recap: Chester Beats Plumas Charter for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Chester entered their tilt with Plumas Charter on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Warriors 12-2. Considering the Volcanoes have won ten games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brianna Dean spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on one hit and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sarah Branch, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Schlueter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Chester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Chester pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Plumas Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15-1 record this season.

Chester will take on Redding Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Volcanoes are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Plumas Charter, they will challenge Happy Camp at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
