The East St. Louis Flyers's three-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They walked away with a 60-50 victory over Collinsville. The win was just what East St. Louis needed coming off of a 73-29 defeat in their prior contest.
Despite the loss, Collinsville still got an impressive performance from Talesha Gilmore, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 19 rebounds. That was a full 52% of Collinsville's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ella Guererro, who scored six points along with two steals.
East St. Louis' victory bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Collinsville, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East St. Louis' homestand continues as they prepare to take on Lift for Life Academy at 12:00 p.m. on January 29th. Lift for Life Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully East St. Louis likes a good challenge. As for Collinsville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Edwardsville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
