Softball Recap: Orofino Wins Going Away Against St. Maries

Orofino won the last time they faced St. Maries and things went their way on Saturday too. The Maniacs put the hurt on the Lumberjacks with a sharp 16-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Maniacs, who have now won eight contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Rilee Diffin, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddy Waters, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Orofino was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .324 or higher in five consecutive games.

Orofino's record is now 9-2. As for St. Maries, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Orofino beat the Lumberjacks by a score of 8-6 later that day.
