After a string of four wins, the Grasso Tech Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 60-59 to Platt RVT. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Grasso Tech's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charis Johnson, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nick Stavesky, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Grasso Tech's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for Platt RVT, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Grasso Tech will face off against the Mighty Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Windham RVT knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully the Eagles likes a good challenge. As for Platt RVT, they will be playing at home against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lyman Hall is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
